ADNAMS WILD WAVE Non-alcoholic Cider
It’s been a while since I last reviewed a non-alcoholic cider and with summer on the way I was pleased to find WILD WAVE by Adnams available at Ocado.
The last Adnams alcohol-free drink I reviewed was actually a red wine (Cabernet Tempranillo) so I was unsure how they would fare with a classic cider. Adnams themselves are one of th UK’s oldest brewers and create some iconic drinks including Ghost Ship pale ale.
To create this fully fermented non-alcoholic WILD WAVE cider Adnams have collaborated with Gloucestershire cider maker Rod Clifford and used a distinct combination of both bitter and sweet British apple varieties to produce a punchy and refreshing cider.
So the question is, is WILD WAVE a perfect accompaniment to a summer BBQ? Well, you’ll just need to read my review to find out.
Is alcohol-free WILD WAVE any good?
Taste
WILD WAVE is a really tasty cider with all the flavour characteristics of a classic bittersweet, crips cider, without the alcohol. You can certainly pick out the tart apple flavours but it is nicely balanced with a level of sweetness. The carbonation of this cider is also spot on so overall, it’s a medium dry cider that is a quench-thirster and one I’ll be going back to.
Aroma & Appearance
As you would expect, it has the aroma of a classic English apple cider. When poured into the glass WILD WAVE has a light amber look but don’t expect a frothy head.
Bonus points
Adnams’ WILD WAVE is suitable for both vegans and gluten-free drinkers and is also fairly low on the calorie count. Worth noting that although it’s fairly easy to find in the UK you may struggle to pick up a can if you’re in Europe or the US.
