Drink review – Celtic Marches have produced a tasty and refreshing cider in the form of Holly GoLightly. Expect sweet and acidic flavours cut-through by the cider’s natural tannins.
Just in time for Summer, I’ve discovered another non-alcoholic cider – this one is by Celtic Marches and called Holly GoLightly.
Celtic Marches is a seventh-generation Herefordshire cider company and one of the UK’s largest self-sustaining single estate (200 acres) cider producers. This award-winning craft cider producer makes over 3 million litres of cider a year and recently ventured into the non-alcoholic market with Holly.
Holly GoLightly is an award winner and although only 0.5% ABV still has all the great characteristics of a cider including the acidic undertone, fresh apple taste and tannin backdrop.
So, the question is, is Holly GoLightly one you want to pack in your picnic basket? Well, you’ll just need to read my review below to find out.
Is Holly GoLightly Any Good?
Taste
As soon as I tried this you can really tell that Celtic Marches know a thing or two about making a decent, refreshing cider. The different apple varieties they use all combine well to create a sharp, sweet and classic cider flavour. My only criticism was that it could have done with a bit more carbonation. Still though, a great drink to enjoy on a balmy evening.
Aroma & Appearance
As you can expect, there are lots of punchy apple aromas that come to the fore-front when you crack open a bottle. In the glass this cider has a light amber look with a low fizz.
