Stowford Press Low Alcohol Cider
Stowford Press is a low alcohol cider from the guys at Westons Cider, the Herefordshire producers of great ciders (including the likes of old Rosie and Mortimers Orchard). Similar to other cider makers Westons has decided to create an alcohol-free version for those looking for a refreshing drink without the dreaded hangover.
Stowford Press low alcohol (0.5%) is an award winner so it was with high expectations that I poured this into a glass full of ice and tucked it.
How did it taste? Well, you’ll need to read the review below to find out.
Is Stowfords Low Alcohol cider any good?
Wow – super appley! Well, I kind of expected it given it’s an apple cider! That said it’s like someone has taken an apple Tango and poured it into a Stowfords bottle. That isn’t to say it isn’t tasty, it is, very refreshing with a good body but a bit too sweet for my liking. It could do with some bitterness added to it to take the edge off the sweetness. If you are a fan of apple ciders then this is definitely worth trying out.
Aroma & Appearance
This cider didn’t give off much of an aroma but there were subtle notes of honey but it is overwhelmed by the smell of apples. Once poured into the glass it had a nice golden colour with low carbonation and no head.
Stowford Press alcohol-free is both gluten-free and vegan friendly with a fairly low-calorie count. It isn’t the most accessible alcohol-free cider but you can buy it from certain online specialists (below)
