Drink review – Seedlip’s Spice 94 was one of my favourite premixed alcohol-free cocktails. Very refreshing and perfect for a summer’s picnic or exotic takeaway.
I’ve reviewed Seedlip before (Grove 42 spirit). Not going to lie, Grove 42 wasn’t great and didn’t blow my socks off. Shame really given all the hype around this brand. That said it did mean I had fairly low expectations when trying out Seedlip Spice 94 Alcohol-Free Cocktail.
Similar to other alcoholic brands, Seedlip has created a number of premixed cocktails for convenience sake although it really is only saving you the effort of having to buy grapefruit tonic. Generally speaking as someone who has tried a number of premixed cocktails in cans, they have been a little naff, but then again it’s never going to taste as fresh and vibrant as it once did after being shoved into a can.
Spice 94 is similar to a gin flavour and is made up of a bunch of ingredients including oak, cascarilla bark, lemon peel, cardamon and others. As mentioned it comes premixed with a grapefruit tonic so the burning question what did Seedlip’s Spice 94 Alcohol-Free Cocktail taste like?
Is Seedlip spice 94 any good?
Taste
Well, there’s a surprise, this is actually tasty and refreshing and a lot better than Grove 42. It did genuinely taste like a premixed gin cocktail with a bunch of different zingy flavours bouncing around my mouth; especially grapefruit. It wasn’t too carbonated nor bitter and struck a pleasant balance. My only gripe would be that Socie 94 had a strange aftertaste but this may be the tonic rather than the spirit. I had it with a Thai green curry and it accompanied the flavours really well.
Aroma & Appearance
You could certainly smell some of fruits and other natural ingredients they have added to this alcohol-free premix although the grapefruit tonic was a little overpowering.
Bonus points
One of the healthier alcohol-free cocktails options on the market with relatively low sugars. It is also vegan-friendly and gluten-free. You can find Spice 94 in most supermarkets but I did find this to be quite punchy with the cost. If you are a fan of Spice 94 then I suggest buying a bottle than a premixed can.

It is harder to locate the premixed can than the bottle of the spirit itself but you can find both in most supermarket and specialist retailers including the ones below.
