Mocktails non-alcoholic Mockapolitan review

It’s been a while since I last reviewed a non-alcoholic cocktail so it was with excitement when I came across a can of Mockapolitan (aka Karma Sucra Mockapolitan) by the aptly named Mocktails company.

This UK-based business is fairly new to the non-alcoholic scene but since their arrival, they have gone on to produce four different drinks including the Mockscow Mule, Sansgria, a Mockarita and as mentioned, the Mockapolitan.

As you can expect this particular drink is a play on the classic Cosmopolitan cocktail – originally concocted in 1975 in Minneapolis, USA by Neal Murray.  The cocktail is officially created by blending vodka as the base spirit along with cranberry juice and orange liqueur for additional sweet and tart flavours.

So, the question is do I agree with the World Alcohol-free Awards 2023 (in which Mockapolitan scored the bronze) or is it just another sweet mess destined for the sink? Well, you’ll just need to read my review below to find out.

Is Mocktails’ Mockapolitan any good?

Taste

This mocktail was pretty tasty at first but I found that the sweet flavour became too much for me as no other flavour profiles cut through it. There are certainly similarities with a classic Cosmo cocktail and you can pick out tart notes from the inclusion of cranberry juice. This is one non-alcoholic cocktails that will suit those into sweeter drinks.

Aroma & Appearance

On the nose, you certainly get some interesting aromas thanks to the citrus fruits and berries used. In the glass as you can see it looks similar to a Cosmopolitan with its light ruby red colour.

Bonus points

All of Mocktails’ drinks have zero alcohol, are ready to serve and pretty low in calories (especially compared to the alcoholic version!). Also worth pointing out the drinks are suitable for vegans and they use 99% recyclable packaging. One of the main differences between Mocktails and other similar companies (besides the puns!) is the fact they offer their pre-mixed mocktails in both bottle and nitro cans (which is what I tried) for an even smoother, tastier cocktail.
