Caleno Light and Zesty
If you missed it I recently reviewed Caleño’s Dark and Spicy which was an alcohol-free alternative to rum. Overall it scored well and made for a very refreshing cocktail. This time round I have tried out Caleno premixed Light and Zesty cocktail.
Just as a quick reminder Caleño is an alcohol-free spirits company that takes its inspiration from South America. The Dark and Spicy was very reminiscent of a pina colada so was curious to know what the Light and Zesty would be like.
It is marketed by Caleño as an alternative to gin with a blend of exotic ingredients including pineapple, papaya, coriander, lemon peel and of course juniper berries (the classic gin ingredient). The cocktail is already mixed with a natural light tonic to create an alcohol-free gin and tonic.

Is Caleno Light and Zesty any good?
Taste
Again, this was another tasty cocktail from Caleño. I have tried a number of different alcohol-free gins before and this had the similar juniper flavours you expect to get. along with an edge of bitter citrus in the background. Although it was slightly bitter I did find this drink to be a bit sweet though. The tongue’s tonic was lively and complimented the Light and Zesty spirit. Overall a great way to experience an alcohol-free Gn T.
Aroma & Appearance
As soon as it poured into the glass you immediately smelt the juniper along with lemon and pineapple. In the glass, it had a refreshingly clean look and fizzed away nicely when ice was added.
Bonus points
Just like its dark counterpart, Light and Zesty is suitable for most people as it has no alcohol, zero sugar and is suitable for both vegans and those who are gluten-free. You can pick this up in a number of supermarkets as well as alcohol-free online specialists.
