Drink review – Sauvin Blanc by Mash Gang aims to recreate the effects and flavours of a dry white wine in the guise of a non-alcoholic beer. Certainly an interesting tasting experience.
If you are a regular reader of MyDryBar you’ll know that I’ve tried a number of Mash Gang beers (including Unlucky Charms and Stoop) so I was excited to find more interesting concoctions on Wise Bartender; one of which is Sauvin Blanc.
If you are unfamiliar with Mash Gang they are an eclectic bunch of brewers who have created quite the reputation within the non-alcoholic community for producing small-batch limited edition beers. There is definitely FOMO with Mash Gang for once its gone – it – is – gone!
Sauvin Blanc caught my eye as something completely different and one I had to try out. Mash Gang’s site poses the question “question of “what if a nolo beer was wine instead?” … and this is their attempt.
Designed to be paired this beer focuses on Nelson Sauvin hops to recreate the bittersweet and refreshing tastes of a classic Sauvignon Blanc.

Is Sauvin Blanc Beer ANY GOOD?
Taste
Well, it’s certainly a unique taste but not one I was able to get into. I can see what Mash Gang were trying to do but I think they’ve tried to be too clever with this creation. The use of Nelson Sauvin hops creates that tannin, dry taste you get from a dry white wine but I think they’ve gone too far making it too bitter and I really wasn’t able to finish it off.
Aroma & Appearance
You certainly get some interesting fruity and hoppy aromas when you pop the lid. When poured into a glass it has a light cloudy amber look with a low head.
Bonus points
This beer is vegan-friendly with a 0.5% ABV. As mentioned above Mash Gang produce low volumes of their beers so your best bet to try Sauvin Blanc is to either head to Mash Gang’s site or try the retailer below.
