STOOP Pilsner is the second Mash Gang alcohol-free beer I’ve tried (the first one being Unlucky Charms) which came via Sober Sauce’s sub box. STOOP is an American Pilsner (generally crisp and light-hopped) that has won awards since its arrival on the alcohol-free scene.
If you’ve not read my last Mash Gang review they are a bunch of NoLo beer nerds who come up with the most bonkers mixes but STOOP is a bit more mature in its stance. The use of both Styrian wolf and Nelson Sauvin hops adds a level of complexity to a typical American pilsner resulting in a crisp and refreshing beer.
So, is this Mash Gang beer another success or one destined for the sink? Well, you’ll just need to read the review below to find out.
Is STOOP Pilsner any good?
If you’re looking for a dry, crisp alcohol-free beer then this is going to be a perfect choice. On the first gulp of STOOP, you first get a mouthful of bitter hops that soon calm to a more refreshing fruity level thanks to the addition of Sauvignon hops. Carbonation is pretty light but it still has a decent body to it. Overall a tasty beer and a good alternative to an alcoholic pilsner.
Aroma & Appearance
Once you pop the cap you get an immediate hit of the malt aromas mixed with citrus fruits. In the glass, STOOP pours with a light, cloudy amber look and a decent frothy head.
Not as cool a can design as Unlucky Charms but I still like the imagery used of the builder resting on a girder. The beer is suitable for vegans but not gluten free. It also seems to be a staple of Mash Gang so there are more ways to purchase this beer (compared to Unlucky Charms).
