Gin ISH and Tonic cocktail

Gin ISH and Tonic is the third pre-mixed alcohol-free cocktail I’ve tried from creators – ISH. For those uninitiated, ISH  are a Danish company that has a reputation for creating tasty non-alcoholic cocktails and wines.

Previously I’ve tried their Daiquiri and (still my favourite alcohol-free cocktail of all time) their Spritz so I do have high expectations for their version of a gin and tonic. I have also tried alcohol-free gin and tonics from the likes of Gordons and Caleno and they have been pretty decent, so even more pressure.

ISH’s Gin and tonic uses only natural ingredients such as the staple – juniper berries, as well as various citrus fruits and coriander seeds. To recreate the classic gin and tonic flavour ISH distils, steams and extracts the flavours, using the heat from chilli seeds to recreate the fiery gin kick

So does this alcohol-free gin and tonic join ISH’s other tasty premixed cocktails or one that is destined for the sink? Well, you’ll just need to read the review to find out.

Is Gin Ish and Tonic any good?

Taste

Well, it certainly tastes like an alcoholic gin and tonic and is one of the most ‘fiery’ alcohol-free cocktails I’ve had (thanks to the addition of capsicum). It is a bit like having a full-strength GnT but with less tonic added than usual. That said the bitter is combined well with the sweet and after a couple of sips it becomes quite a complex yet refreshing drink thanks to the addition of lemon, orange and coriander.

Aroma & Appearance

Gin Ish and tonic certainly has the classic aromas you would identify with a gin and tonic cocktail – especially those fragrant juniper berries. In the glass, it is almost identical to a classic cocktail, just remember to add plenty of ice.

Bonus points

ISH makes cocktails that are suitable for most drinks but bear in mind it isn’t zero alcohol (just o.4%). This gin and tonic cocktail is suitable for vegans, and gluten-free drinkers and is relatively low in sugar. It isn’t the easiest drink to find so you’ll need to purchase it from online specialists.
