Drink review – Unfortunately, this alcohol-free Kopparberg drink did not go down well with me. It was far too sweet. If you are not drinking alcohol and want to experience a premixed gin mocktal then I recommend the likes of Gordons GnT or Caleno’s Light and Zesty – both of these are more palatable and have a great refreshing gin flavour.
I was quite surprised to find this alcohol-free cocktail on the shelf of my local supermarket. The reason for my surprise – well I thought Kopparbeg just produced cider (see my review on their pear cider). As such, I was pretty excited to try their alcohol-free Kopparberg Gin Strawberry & Lime cocktail.
If you are a regular My Dry Bar reader you’ll know that I have reviewed quite a number of alcohol-free cocktails in a can. They seem to be growing in popularity thanks to their accessibility and efficiency; especially if you’re having a picnic or BBQ.
To create this concoction Kopparberg has combined the tastes of gin and lemonade and added strawberry with a dash of citrus. Overall they have tried to create a refreshing cocktail in the can, perfect for summer. The question is was it any good? Well, you’ll just need to read the review below to find out.
Is Kopparberg Gin cocktail any good?
Taste
Well, this Kopparberg concoction won’t win the ‘best tasting alcohol-free cocktail’ award … unless you’re into very sweet slightly odd tasting drinks. Given the number of alcohol-free gins I’ve tried, I struggled to pick out any gin flavours. You certainly get the sweet fruity tastes and there is a slight citrus back taste but overall it just tastes like a fruity lemonade.
Aroma & Appearance
You can smell the strawberry and other sweet fruits but there was no distinctive gin aroma. As you can see from the photo the mocktail pours out with a light pink artificial colour.
Bonus points
Well, I suppose Kopparberg’s Gin Strawberry & Lime cocktail gets bonus points for being suitable for most drinkers with dietary needs as it is gluten-free and vegan friendly. It is also zero per cent alcohol. Availability-wise it isn’t the easiest to find although I have seen this drink at supermarkets
