Smashed Lager
Alcohol-free Smashed Lager is the creation of the guys over at Cheshire-based brewers, Drynks. They are one of the new alcohol-free brewers who have popped up and risen to fame since their launch in 2017.
Since their inaugaration they have created and launched a number of non-alcohlic beers from pales and citrus’ to the one we’re reviewing today – the Smashed lager.
Smashed Lager starts its life in the Robinsons brewery in Stockport, UK and goes through advanced techniques to lower the temperature of the product and then remove the alcohol via cool vacuum distillation (which helps to avoid impacting the flavour or body of the beer).
So what did I make of this lager? Does all that make a difference to the taste? Well you’ll just need to read my review below to find out.
Is Smashed Lager any good?
Taste
Smashed Lager is certainly a tasty treat indeed. Fruity and malty with a dry finish it certainly made for a refrhing beer. The carbonation wasn’t too crazy and I enjoyed the balance of the bitterness with the citrus flavours I picked up; one grumble would be that the taste was perhaps too much on the bitter side. That said it was certainly one of the best alcohol-free lagers I’ve drunk in a while and would easily have another one.
Aroma & Appearance
When poured into the glass Smashed had a medium amber look to it with a pretty decent head which is always a bonus. The aroma I got was predomiantly made up of honey and malt which were both pleasant.

Smashed Lager should suit most people given it’s vegan-friendly, gluten free and fairly low in calories. I really like the packaging (and brand name) which realty stands out on the supermarket shelves. You can pick this beer up at both supermarkets and online speciliasts.
