Veltins (aka Brauerei C. & A. VELTINS) started life in Germany in 1824 before becoming one of the largest and modern breweries. They brew several beers including a pilsener, helles and the non-alcoholic pilsener I tried today.
Just like most other German beer producers Veltins follows the ‘German Purity Law’ and as such use soft spring water from their seven in-house springs, quality malting barley and fresh bitter hops that help define the beer’s flavour profile.
Veltins non-alcoholic pilsener is a bottom-fermented beer that has the same ingredients as the alcoholic pilsener which is alleged to have “a light citrus flavour and slightly nutty note”. It’s worth noting that unlike other beers I’ve tried this has a zero alcohol content.

Is Veltins Non-alcoholic Pilsener Any Good?
Taste
Unfortunately, this non-alcoholic beer by Veltins is not a good one. The main reason for this poor performance is its lack of flavour. I found it was like drinking sparkling water with a faint background hoppy flavour, not the punchy pilsner notes I was anticipating. Its carbonation is pretty decent but I didn’t enjoy my glass of Veltins and won’t be going back for another.
Aroma & Appearance
The aroma of this pilsener beer was actually better than the taste and you do get some interesting hoppy smells emanating as soon as you open the bottle. In the glass, it has a very light amber colour and a decent frothy head.
