Inne Beczki’s Rak n Rollowe beer
Here’s another alcohol-free flavoured beer I’ve come across – this time its Inne Beczki’s Rak n Rollowe beer.
If like me, you’ve not yet come across Inne Beczki they are a Polish brewer based in Warsaw. Set up by friends Janek and Marcin, this brewery originally started life as one of the world’s smallest bars before branching out into creating both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beers.
This particular beer, Rak n Rollowe, is a passion fruit American Pale ale. It is made using a light non-alcoholic beer with passion fruit as well as added tropical fruit juices from pineapple and mango.
So the question is, is this a Polish winner or a dog’s dinner? Well, you’ll just need to read the review below to find out.
Is Rak n Rollowe beer any good?
Taste
Actually this is a pretty decent beer. At first, I had some hesitation as I am not the biggest fan of fruity beers but actually the addition of the passionfruit complements the malty beer flavours pretty well. There wasn’t any overpowering sweetness that you sometimes get from alcohol-free beers, in fact, there was quite a nice acidic cut-through. Rak n Rollowe’s carbonation was pretty tight and not too gassy. Overall this alcohol-free beer worked great with my Thai curry.
Aroma & Appearance
On the first whiff, you certainly pick out citrus aromas (in fact more pineapple than other scents). When poured into a glass the beer pours with a light, slightly cloudy amber colour with a short frothy head.
Bonus points
Rak n Rollowe is vegan-friendly but not gluten-free nor 100% free of alcohol (its 0.5% ABV). The biggest challenge you’ll have around is getting hold of this beer in the first place. Inne Beczki generally makes small batch making this a particularly hard beer to try out, your best bet is via an online specialist.
