Drink review – Given the pedigree McGuigan has for creating award-winning wine it’s a shame that their skills didn’t pass into the alcohol-free world. This non-alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc isn’t a drink I recommend given its strange sweet chemical taste. If you are after an alcohol-free white wine there are better choices out there (especially the sparkling ones).
The McGuigan family has been producing wine in Australia for over four generations. They have created some award-winning red wines so it isn’t really a surprise to see McGuigan dipping their toe into the world of alcohol-free wine – named the Zero range.
There are currently four wines in their Zero range including a Rose and a Shiraz but the one I tried was the alcohol-free Sauvignon Blanc.
Sauvignon Blanc is known for its fruity, refreshing, and sometimes spicy notes but did this alcohol-free version hold its own or is not worth its salt; you’ll need to read our review below.
Is Alcohol-free Sauvignon Blanc any good?
Taste
As a wine lover, I reckon I have a good palette when tasting wines … and I’m afraid this alcohol-free Sauvignon Blanc is pretty bad. I had it chilled and it looked refreshing in the glass but on the tongue, it was super sweet with a strange tartiness to it that seemed completely out of place. I didn’t get any nice classic Sauvignon Blanc peach or pear flavour at all. I wasn’t able to finish the glass and the rest of the bottle went down the drain!
Aroma & Appearance
McGuigan’s Sauvignon Blanc smelt a lot better than it tasted, it had quite a realistic citrusy smell which wasn’t off putting at all. It also looked good in the glass with the calssic colour of Sauvignon Blanc.
Bonus points
Well, this is certainly a lot healthier to drink compared to a classic Sauvignon Blanc. it is very low in calories and has 0% alcohol so will suit most drinkers. It’s also vegan friendly and gluten-free.

The Dry Drinker is a great allrounder when it comes to alcohol-free drinks with a great range of wines, beers and spirits.
