Review – Alcohol-free Asahi beer is just like the alcoholic version – crisp, refreshing and perfect for a summer’s evening. This is definitely a non-alcoholic lager that I’ll keep coming back to. Recommended.
Asahi beer has always been one of my favourite drinks so I was excited when I saw that Asahi had created an alcohol-free version of this ‘dry’ beer – called Asahi 0.0%
If you aren’t familiar with the Asahi brand it is a Japanese beer that has been around since the 1980’s and has become a popular beer across the globe. Thanks to its refreshing, bittersweet crisp flavours this is the perfect beer to accompany an Asian meal (I had mine with some sushi).
Also worth noting that Asahi recently won the coveted gold award at the World Alcohol-Free Awards 2023. This is particularly impressive as there are some harsh judges from all over the world and across a multitude of sectors.

Is alcohol-free Asahi any good?
Taste
Good news. This non-alcoholic version of Asahi hits the mark. If you enjoy a dry and crisp beer, easily drinkable, and leaves you wanting another then you won’t go wrong with this alcohol-free Asahi. Just like the alcoholic version there are bitter hop flavours and decent carbonation. There isn’t the ‘edge’ you get with the alcoholic beer but it is still pretty tasty.
Aroma & Appearance
This beer certainly shares similarities with the alcoholic version, especially with the aroma – expect pungent hop smells and sweeter malt aromas. In the glass, it pours with a light amber look and a decent frothy head.
Bonus points
Although alcohol-free Asahi is not gluten-free it is vegan-friendly. It also contains zero alcohol which is great for those who want to avoid alcohol entirely. With regards to availability, it is becoming easier to find, especially in supermarkets however you can also pick Asahi up at specialists too.
