Drink review – Brewdog’s non-alcoholic Wingman IPA didn’t hit the mark for me. It certainly has a familiar hoppy IPA flavour with some interesting background citrus notes but it felt too watery and lacked the body I expect in a good non-alcoholic IPA.
I’ve tried a couple of Brewdog’s non-alcoholic versions on their beers in the past and I was pretty imprssed, esepcialy liked alcohol-free Nannny State. So when I saw to alcohol-free Wingman IPA in Sainsbury’s I knew I had to give it a go.
BrewDog have become one of the most iconic craft brewers in Europe and you’ll reguarly see their beer on tap in pubs. Wingman is their best-selling citrus IPA known for its hoppy flavours.
The alcohol-free version of Wingman attempts to recreate the same punchy IPA flavours but with just 0.5% ABV.
To create the IPA hoppiness, Brewdog use a combination of Citra, Mosaic and Talus hops and combines this with peach & pineapple flavouring to create a refreshing IPA flavour.
So the question is, is Brewdog’s AF Wingman just as good as their other non-alcoholic beers? Well, you’ll just need to read my review below to find out.
Is Non-alcoholic Wingman any good?
Taste
To be honest, Wingman didn’t hit the mark for me. It certainly has a familiar hoppy IPA flavour with some interesting background citrus notes but it felt too watery and lacked the body I expect in a good non-alcoholic IPA. By no means is it bad but given the calibre of the previous Brwdog beers, I was expecting a bit more.
Aroma & Appearance
Once you crack open a can of AF Wingman you are hit with some interesting hoppy, peachy aromas. In the glass, this beer has a light amber look and shorty frothy head.
