Many larger branches dedicate a noticeable amount of shelf space to alcohol-free beer, wine and spirits, and the range has improved significantly over the past few years.

One of Sainsbury’s strengths is that it actively recognises the growth of the category, even providing a dedicated low and no alcohol section on its website. This makes it easier for shoppers to browse the range and discover new products without having to search through multiple categories.

While the online selection isn’t quite as extensive as it once was, Sainsbury’s still offers a solid range of alcohol-free drinks across all major categories. The beer selection is particularly strong, and there is generally a good mix of mainstream brands and premium alcohol-free alternatives.

The selection includes many of the leading alcohol-free brands alongside a growing number of newer products, making it easier for shoppers to find both familiar favourites and something new to try.

While Tesco still doesn’t quite match the sheer breadth of choice available at Ocado, it has closed the gap considerably and now offers one of the strongest alcohol-free ranges among the major high street supermarkets. The convenience of its nationwide store network also makes it one of the easiest places to find alcohol-free drinks wherever you are in the UK.

Morrisons has made some encouraging progress since I first reviewed the UK’s supermarket alcohol-free offerings. While it still trails the leading retailers in terms of overall choice, the range has expanded noticeably, particularly across alcohol-free beers and wines.

The biggest improvement has been in the wine category. Previously, Morrisons offered very few alcohol-free wine options, but it now stocks a much broader selection alongside a growing range of alcohol-free beers from both mainstream and specialist brands. This reflects the wider growth of the category and shows that Morrisons is beginning to take alcohol-free drinks more seriously.

That said, the overall selection remains more limited than you’ll find at Ocado, Sainsbury’s or Tesco. Shoppers looking for premium alcohol-free spirits, specialist wines or a wide variety of craft beers may still find the range somewhat restrictive.

However, if you’re looking for a convenient supermarket option with a decent selection of alcohol-free beers and wines, Morrisons is now a much stronger contender than it was a few years ago and is continuing to move in the right direction.
