Review – ALT Wine has created a tasty non-alcoholic chardonnay wine that pairs well with food. Expect acidic chardonnay notes as well as interesting citrus flavours.
I came across this bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling wine by ALT. on the Alcohol Free Co’s site and knew I had to try it. If, like me, you have not come across producers ALT before, they are a Norwegian producer of non-alcoholic wines who, in partnership with a winery in Spain, have created some award-winning wines.
Looking at their site ALT. currently have three different non-alcoholic wines including a sparkling rose, chardonnay and the one I tried today … the ‘blanc de blancs’ sparkling chardonnay.
This non-alcoholic sparkling white wine is made from 100% organic Chardonnay grapes harvested in the south of the La Mancha of Spain. The team at ALT. then use classical winemaking methods to produce a great flavour and combine it with the latest vacuum distillation technology to remove the alcohol.
Well, the question for all non-alcoholic wine is … is this a great tipple for a summer’s evening or another DFTS (destined for the sink)? Well, you’ll just need to read my review below to find out.
Is ALT non-alcoholic wine any good?
Taste
To be honest I’ve found that the sparkling white option within non-alcoholic wines has always been a pretty safe bet and I am pleased to say ALT has also created a tasty sparkling wine. This wine has a nice acidic background from the chardonnay grapes but I also picked out citrus fruit flavours too which helps to balance out the wine. Carbonation of this non-alcoholic sparkling wine is spot on and it went very well with an Italian (pasta) dinner. A great option for all those who have given up alcohol this year.
Aroma & Appearance
When you open a bottle of ALT wine you get some aromatic chardonnay notes and in the glass, it has the classic carbonated white wine appearance.
Bonus points
This non-alcoholic wine should be applicable for most drinkers with dietary requiremrnts. It is organic with zero alcohol and is suitable for vegans. It is also pretty low in calories too. When it comes to availability, I found it online but you can also buy ALT from their site.
