Drink review – I found Lyre’s Classico to be a great addition to the non-alcoholic sparkling wine category. The fruity flavours are well balanced with a slightly bitter, tart backdrop. Overall a refreshing drink that is perfect before a meal.
It’s been a good while since I last tried a Lyre’s concoction. In the past, I’ve generally given their creations high praise indeed so I was excited to come across Lyre’s Classico on Wise Bartender.
Lyre’s, a British company, have been producing alcohol-free spirits and cocktails for a good few years now so their move into non-sparkling wines is one to watch out for.
Classico has been created to recreate the experience and flavours of drinking an Italian fizzy wine (aka Prosecco) with lots of classic sour fruit tartness and apple and peach aromas.
Lyre’s offers Classico in a corked bottle (aka Grande) or in a can, such as the one I tried today. It is gluten-free and suitable for vegans and contains no artificial extracts or sweeteners.

Taste
I was not sure what to expect when I took a sip of Classico but I actually found it a rather unique and refreshing tipple. There are definitely familiar Prosecco flavours and I do get some interesting fruity notes with a tanin-esque backdrop. I would say this is a perfect non-alcoholic aperitif before an Italian meal.
Aroma & Appearance
This Lyre’s drink does give off some musky and fruity aromas that resemble sparkling white wine. In the glass, Classico has a light carbonated look to it.
