Modelo 0% Negra Review

Modelo 0% Negra is the alcohol-free version of Modeloโ€™s dark Mexican lager, and the original MyDryBar review scored it 82/100. That strong score still makes sense. This is one of the most enjoyable alcohol-free dark lagers I have tried, especially if you want something richer than a standard pale lager but not as heavy as a stout.

In the glass, it pours a deep amber to dark brown colour with a proper frothy head. It immediately looks more substantial than many alcohol-free beers and feels closer to a proper dark lager than a thin supermarket 0.0 option.

The aroma is one of the best parts. There are clear caramel, toasted malt and light chocolate notes, with a gentle hop character underneath. It is not overly roasted or bitter, but it has enough depth to feel interesting from the first sip.

On the palate, Modelo 0% Negra is smooth, malty and nicely carbonated. The caramel and chocolate flavours carry through well, giving it a decadent feel without becoming heavy. It is lighter than Guinness 0.0 or a proper alcohol-free stout, but that actually makes it more versatile and easy to drink.

Overall, this is a highly recommended alcohol-free beer on MyDryBar. Availability is the main issue, especially in the UK, but if you find it, Modelo 0% Negra is absolutely worth trying.

โญ MyDryBar Final Verdict

82/100

Modelo 0% Negra is a standout alcohol-free dark lager and fully deserves its 82/100 MyDryBar score. It has the caramel, chocolate and toasted malt character I want from a dark lager, but it stays smooth, easy to drink and well carbonated.

The biggest drawback is availability, especially for UK drinkers. It is also not gluten-free and the manufacturerโ€™s full nutrition information is not easy to find. Even so, from a taste perspective, this is one of the most interesting alcohol-free lagers reviewed on MyDryBar and one I would happily buy again.
