Just like buses, you don’t come across a Radler for ages and then two come along at once. Recently I reviewed Kaiserdom’s lemon Radler (which scored an impressive 36) so was excited when I came across Good Karma Culture Shock.

I actually reviewed another Good Karma alcohol-free drink some months ago – Happy Pils – but it wasn’t great. That said it didn’t put me off trying another from their collection. Good Karma is a small British brewer who believes in positive societal action and currently has a number of different alcohol-free drinks including the Culture Shock Radler I had today.

This drink is actually a collaboration with Rock Leopard Brewing Co (another UK-based craft brewer) and Good Karma and uses classic ingredients including malted wheat, hops, barley and lemons to create that refreshing Radler taste.

So how does Culture Shock compare to Happy Pils? Well, you’ll just have to read my review below to find out.

Is Good Karma Culture Shock any good?

Taste

Well, this Radler is definitely a great summer drink. It is light and refreshing and has a sweet and bitter finish. If you enjoy drinking lager-tops or shandy’s then Culture Shock could be a good bet. You get the sweet malty notes nicely balanced with the sour edge of the lemons. If I were nit-picking it is a tad too watery (ie lacks the body) but overall very refreshing.

Aroma & Appearance

Unsurprisingly the aromas released from the can are intense lemon smells with a background of cereal and malt notes. In the glass, Culture Shock pours with a light amber colour and low head.

Bonus points

Like other Good Karma cans, Culture Shock has a cool ‘street art’ design – bonus point there. The Radler itself is vegan friendly but not suitable for gluten-free drinkers. It is also one of the more difficult alcohol-free drinks to locate which is likely due to the low batch numbers from the collaboration.
