Drink review – Although it tastes like a pale ale I found ‘Wish You Were Beer’ just too bitter in my opinion and with a lack of body, there are better non-alcoholic pale ales out there to try.
‘Wish You Were Beer’ is an alcohol-free pale ale from Arbor brewery. Arbor itself is based in Bristol, UK and has been producing beers since 2007; now producing some million litres a year of the amber nectar.
Although focusing on craft beers (such as a kettle sour and table NEIPA) Arbor has begun to diversify its mix and recently come out with their first non-alcoholic beer, ‘Wish you were beer’.
This gluten-free beer, suitable for vegans is brewed using the classic pale ale hop combination of Citra and Mosaic to create a refreshing and fruity drink.
So the question is is ‘Wish you were beer’ worthy of a spot on MyDryBar? Well, you’ll just have to read my review to find out.
Is Wish You Were Beer Any Good?
Taste
‘Wish you were beer’ … hmmm I wish I wasn’t to be honest. I get what they are trying to achieve by using punchy hops but I felt they’ve gone too far towards the bitter side of things, top that with a rather watery finish means it’s just not particularly pleasant to drink. There are certainly better alcohol-free pale ales out there.
Aroma & Appearance
This beer certainly has some classic fruity and tropical pale ale aromas and when poured into the glass it has a cloudy amber look with not much of a head.
