Drink review – Hug0.0% is a great non-alcoholic Spritz bursting with flavour. If you are looking for a refreshing prosecco mocktail that won’t give you a headache you can’t go wrong with this tipple.
Ok, I’m not going to lie, I’ve never heard of a Hugo cocktail before. So I was intrigued when I picked up a bottle of Princess Hug0.0% from The Wise Bartender.
If, like me, you also hadn’t come across a Hugo its essentially a spritz cocktail, common in many European countries, made up of elderflower syrup and topped with prosecco.
This particular version is made by Princess Wines, an Italian producer of alcohol-free drinks. Princess have created a large range of non-alcoholic wines including a rose, red, prosecco and this Hugo mocktail they call Princess Hug0.0% Alternativa.
According to the official site, Princess Hug0.0% is a homage to the original recipe that was created in Alto Adige Italy and is designed to be drunk with some ice and mint leaves. I simply just added ice to my glass and drank away.

This non-alcoholic version of a Hugo Spritz is one of the best mocktails I’ve had in a long time to be honest it was like an adult version of Appletizer. It was well carbonated which helps temper down the sweetness from the elderflower syrup and there’s a slight acidic flavour which helps with the overall balance of the drink. Overall I can see why people have this before a meal as its refreshing and a great way to start an evening.
Aroma & Appearance
When I opened the bottle of Hug0.0 the cork almost flew across the room. When poured you do get hints of elderflower aroma and it has a prosecco look to it with a decent fizz.
