I’ve had a couple of Caleno drinks in the past (including the light and zesty and dark and spicy rum) so had high expectations when I came across Caleno’s Alcohol-free Passion Fruit Martini.

Caleno has actually created a couple of spritz variants – a pina colada and the passion fruit I tried today. As expected they have used their own alcohol-free spirits as a base to this drink and for the passion fruit martini they have used the Light and Zesty (an alternative to gin).

Along with Light and Zesty, Caleno has added additional flavours to recreate a classic fruity martini including pineapple, lemon, juniper and exotically named, Colombian Inca berry.

So, the question is do these pre-mixed non-alcoholic cocktails add to Caleno’s reputation as a quality NA drink producer? Well, you’ll just need to read my review below to find out.

Taste

Not bad, not bad. I can see what Caleno were trying to achieve with this pre-mixed alcohol-free cocktail. There are certainly some sweet and punchy passion fruit flavours but it misses the ‘bite’ (that normally a gin would bring) to help cut through the sweetness. If you are after something refreshing and fruity to sip in the sun then this is a good choice but it doesn’t really taste like a martini.

Aroma & Appearance

The aromas of the fruit and other citrus’ come to life when you open a can of Caleno. As you can see, in the glass, it has a light orangey-red colour and is gently carbonated.
