Torres is a Spanish family-run wine producer who has been creating award-winning wine for over 150 years. Like others, they have also been creating de-alcoholised versions of their wine to cater to a new audience; one of such wines is Torres Natureo – Alcohol-Free Syrah Red.
If you’re new to wine then Syrah is traditionally a full-bodied wine full of dark fruit flavour and perfect with heavy meats such as beef and barbeques. Natureo has used 100% Syrah grapes for this wine, aged in French oak for up to six months before having the alcohol removed. An interesting point to note, Natureo Syrah was actually Spain’s first-ever de-alcoholised red wine and as such has quite the reputation.
Now, to be honest, the alcohol-free wines I’ve reviewed thus far have been very poor so my expectations were low. Is Torres Natureo worth a taste? Well you’ll need to read my review below to find out.

Is Natureo Syrah any good?
Taste
Ok well I did say that the alcohol-free wines have been pretty poor thus far and to be honest, this Syrah is just marginally better. Drinkable for a glass but I couldn’t finish another. It does have a musty, Syrah taste but there is a lack of body I couldn’t get my head around; just too watery for my liking. This is likely caused due to the spinning cone technique they use to remove the alcohol but whatever the reason it makes the wine less appealing.
Aroma & Appearance
When Natureo was poured into a glass it looked just like a dark red wine would look. The wine’s aroma was pretty good too with hints of blackcurrants and pomegranate.
Bonus points
Natureo Syrah is one of the healthier wine options given it’s gluten-free, suitable for vegans and has reasonably low sugar content. It also contains zero percent alcohol so suitable for people who really don’t want any alcohol in their system. Due to their size this wine is available from a large number of supermarkets and online specialists.
